This beautifully designed private itinerary, informed by expert knowledge, allows the traveler to truly experience Bhutan.

Begin the adventure in Thimphu, marveling at a massive, seated Buddha, circumambulating a chorten (shrine), and unwinding from your travels at your tranquil lodge. Proceed to Punakha where you share a traditional breakfast with monks at the dzong (fortress-monastery), and sample local cuisine in scenic surroundings. In Paro, try your hand at the national sport, and climb the steps to fabled Tiger’s Nest temple. All along the way the strong traditions and proud people of Bhutan give context and color to your travels.

Trip Overview


Day
1 – 2

After arriving in Paro, head to Thimphu for your first taste of Bhutanese culture Explore Tashichho Dzong, a multitude of museums, and a massive Buddha Recover from your travels with a hot stone bath.

Day
3 – 5

Travel to Punakha Valley to share breakfast with monks, sample regional dishes and drinks, wander around monasteries and chortens, and take optional hikes and bike rides in truly sensational scenery.

6 – 8

Return to Paro, where a walking tour uncovers daily life in the historic town Take lunch on a family farm and ascend the trail to cliffside Taktsang Lhakhang, the Tiger’s Nest (or just admire it from below) Participate in a Bhutanese butter lamp ceremony.

Depart to Bangkok.
