The Information We Collect
We appreciate your trust in us and we take your security and privacy seriously. We pride ourselves on our ethical and minimal personal data collection. We ask for your personal data in the service of helping you receive information that you request, helping you plan your GeoEx trip, or communicating information that we sincerely feel is of interest to you based on your past interactions with us.
We shy away from invasive marketing or any data collection that would betray your privacy or trust. We collect the minimum needed to carry out the task at hand. When anonymous, aggregated data will suffice, we will always choose that. In short, we select methods that help safeguard your privacy and security.
For each visitor to our website, our web server automatically recognizes only the visitor’s domain name and browser type. We collect aggregate information on what pages our visitors access so that we may use tools to help us monitor and improve our site, such as Google Analytics, which allows us to know how many visitors our site has, what pages are the most popular, and what types of devices our visitors are using. None of this information is tied to specific individuals. Nevertheless, we keep it private and secure.
This site uses Internet protocol (IP) addresses. IP addresses are unique identifiers automatically assigned to each computer when logging onto the Internet. IP addresses allow us to collect much of the same information we collect through cookies, including browser type, what pages you visit, and how long you stay on the site. In general, IP addresses allow us to identify problems with our servers, prepare aggregate demographic information and other information regarding this use of this site, and improve the functions of this site.

The information we collect on our website forms is limited in scope and is used primarily to carry out your requests. This is information you are volunteering, such as your name and email address, phone number (if you are requesting a call) and/or mailing address (if you are requesting that we mail you a catalog or something else via postal mail).
If you are opted in to our enewsletter, we will email you information about our trips, travel trends, blog posts, and other information. You may opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link found on each email, by emailing us at [email protected], calling us 415-922-0448 or 888-570-7108, or sending a letter to the address at the top of this page.
If you are not opted in to our enewsletter, you will only receive transactional emails and direct communication from your travel adviser.
As we plan your trip, you will provide certain pieces of personal information that may include name, email address, mailing address, passport information, flight information, dietary or medical information, phone number, and travel preferences. We will only ask you to provide those pieces of information necessary to planning your travel, or that will allow us to tailor your journey to your preferences. This information is confidential and will only be shared with those planning and executing your trip; for example, we may let your guide know that you are vegetarian, so that meals may be planned accordingly, or we may share your flight arrival time with our in-country colleagues tasked with picking you up from the airport upon your arrival. All of this is stored securely. We currently use Peak15 and a proprietary Guest Services Center we had built for this purpose.
Your information will not be sold or rented. We will not provide any personal information or data to third parties in order for them to market directly to you.
We have appropriate security measures in place at our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you.
We do not wish to collect information from or about minors, other than information that is appropriate for us to know should a minor travel on one of our journeys. Should we obtain actual knowledge that we have received information from a minor other than one who has traveled or is registered to travel on one of our journeys, we will delete that information.

We reserve the right to release information to the appropriate authorities if we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or to protect the property or safety of GeoEx or any of its affiliated companies, our employees, users, or others, or to protect the integrity of our website and data.

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to our website to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses.
