Seven Favorite Blog Posts of 2018

By Don George | January 26, 2019

Our year began most happily with the announcement that one of our Wanderlust stories had received the Gold Award for Best Long-Form Narrative in the North American Travel Journalists 2018 travel writing competition. This recognition came on the heels of the award we received in the 2018 Society of American Travel Writers competition. Inspired by these awards, we decided to look back at top travel blog posts of 2018.

Last year we published a rich range of tales and essays, written by a spectrum of compelling contributors, from acclaimed veterans to emerging stars, as well as GeoEx’s own world-wandering staffers. From among these, we have chosen to spotlight seven extraordinary posts, beginning with the story that won the Gold Award: Ariel Andrew’s poignant account of walking the Santiago de Compostela with her mother.

Making Wanderlust one of the top travel blogs to follow begins and ends with you. We’re grateful for your readership, as you journey around the globe with us. We hope you enjoy these tales, and wish a new year full of exploration, growth, connection, and fulfillment.
