Geographic Expeditions Launches New Tour in Pakistan

August 30th, 2019

At a time when most operators are shying away from Pakistan, trailblazing travel company Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx) has just launched a new 16-day itinerary there, from Islamabad to Karachi, with a focus on Indus Valley archaeological sites and Mughal-era monuments. The inaugural departure, limited to just 12 guests, includes meetings with local people and special access at premier sights.

Southern Pakistan: Confluence of Civilizations features introductions to museum curators and archaeology scholars, who offer deeper insight into the past and present of the region. At UNESCO World Heritage Site Lahore Fort, the group meets with the Director for special access to the famed Jahangir Picture Wall, Alamgiri Gate, and Royal Kitchen. The itinerary explores four World Heritage sites, including the ruins at Mohenjodaro, an Indus Valley city considered one of the three great early civilizations.

One of only two US-based travel companies currently offering tours to Pakistan, GeoEx is well-known for its ability to take travelers to extraordinary destinations with a higher level of comfort and safety. The company monitors security and keeps abreast of developments through one of the world’s best private security firms, through assessments made by a range of sources including numerous governments, and through information from partners on the ground in-country.

GeoEx has been exploring rarely-traveled Pakistan for over 30 years operating trips along the Karakoram Highway in the Hunza Valley and a trek to K2 base camp. The new tour was planned by GeoEx trip developer Sara Barbieri, who traces her ancestry to the Punjab region and will also lead the group.

Trip dates are December 3-18, 2019. For itinerary and trip price click here.
