Cuba conjures up visions of beauty, music, and intrigue. GeoEx’s educational exchange brings you the best of this seemingly frozen-in-time destination, introducing you to Cubans as they look to the horizon of change. Our Cuba program is ambitious, but we think that it’s more than worthwhile to seek out the heart of this vibrant country.
In Havana we experience the old and the new, dialoguing with well-known historians and learning about Cuban-American relations through meetings with highly respected academics and curators. We interact with musicians, dancers, and artists at studios, museums, and schools, gaining insight into the progression of Cuban art and politics through the country’s history. Next it's into the countryside, exploring a mountain village, an exquisite orchid garden, and a community project for children. Before returning to the capital, we experience life on a family tobacco farm in the beautiful, multiethnic Viñales Valley, a World Heritage Site. Throughout our explorations in Cuba, we get a taste of entrepreneurship at its delicious best in paladares, where we sample traditional Cuban dishes in the homes of welcoming locals.
Geographic Expeditions, Inc. ("GeoEx") is licensed by the US Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control to organize and conduct educational exchanges in Cuba not including academic study pursuant to a degree program, that will result in meaningful interactions between the US travelers and individuals in Cuba.
