Laos

Join our next departure to the Heart of Indochina

Serene, rustic, undescended upon by the tourist armadas, Laos is a revelation. The caprices and unnavigable waters of the upper Mekong have allowed Laos to keep its ancient charm largely intact. The country has an exceptionally varied topography, which has led to a multilayered culture. Down south we explore almost-forgotten Khmer temples built long before Angkor. Up north we visit the mysterious Plain of Jars and charming Luang Prabang. And everywhere we hear the chanting of its orange-clad Buddhist monks.

Laos with GeoEx

The caprices and unnavigable waters of the upper Mekong have allowed Laos to keep its ancient charm largely intact. Though small, the country has an exceptionally varied topography, which in turn has led to a multilayered culture. In the south, the flat plains of Boloven and the “lost” province of Attapeu are graced with almost forgotten Khmer temples and a vibrant tribal culture, a richness we sample on the evocative Wat Phou cruise. Up north, we visit charming Luang Prabang, gritty Lao-China border towns, and conservation parks of virgin forest, and everywhere we hear the chanting of the orange-clad monks of this peaceful Buddhist land. See any or all of it, in ways you'll be surprised to discover.
