Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx) Launches Its First All-Women’s Group Tour

November 26th, 2018

Trailblazing travel company Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx), which has spearheaded group travel to Tibet, Iran, Bhutan, Patagonia, and numerous other destinations, is offering its first women-only tour, a 13-day exploration of Egypt from Cairo to Aswan. Led by two acclaimed female experts, the small-group journey—12 travelers maximum—will feature special-access visits to ancient tombs and contemporary homes, an intimate hands-on lesson in Egyptian home cooking, and an exclusive introduction to the art of Nubian dancing.

Women-only travel is gaining in popularity in the U.S. A Booking.com study in 2018 found that 65% of U.S. women are taking vacations without their partners. And in a survey of 200 female members of the Solo Travel Society, 46% said that freedom, independence, and the chance to do what they want when they want is important, 22% said they weren’t willing to wait around for others, and 15% said they travel solo to challenge themselves and gain confidence.

“These trends fall directly in line with what we’re hearing from our clients,” said Wen Minkoff, GeoEx Managing Director of Marketing. “More of our female travelers are interested in visiting edgy, off-the-beaten path destinations, but don’t always have a partner that wants the same thing. Also, our solo women travelers want to have immersive experiences and are very adventurous, but they want to feel safe. That’s why they’re choosing to go with group tours, which offer the thrill of adventure travel without the potential loneliness or danger of going completely solo.”

Led by two of GeoEx’s most beloved guides, Arabic specialist and textile artist Sylvie Franquet and charismatic Egyptologist Randa Abdel Wahab, this GeoEx journey will present an insiders’ appreciation of Egypt’s history and heart, from walking explorations of Cairo’s pulsing streets to private visits to Luxor’s mesmerizing temples to a leisurely dahabeya cruise along the endlessly fascinating Nile River, and all from a distinctively female perspective. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this intimate, insightful journey to our women travelers,” said Minkoff.

Tour dates are Nov. 6-18, 2019. For more information, visit Egypt Insider: An All-Women Journey Along the Nile.
