Luxury Train Travel

The Silk Road Aboard the Golden Eagle

Very few travel experiences linger in memory as freshly, as vitally, and as warmly as a far-fetching train journey. Especially one aboard an imaginatively designed, deeply comfortable train like our Golden Eagle, a rolling masterpiece.

A rail cruise along the storied Silk Road trans-Siberian is the Mount Everest of railroading, not only for train buffs, but for all lovers of grand travel. And the Golden Eagle was designed in the proud traditions of Europe’s finest wagon-lits and America’s Pullman cars. This luxury train offers travelers a room—not to mention elegant dining and lounge cars—with constantly, dramatically changing, otherwise-often-inaccessible views. And its many stops and activity options along the way give you time to explore.

“This trip was like nothing I have experienced! The train took me through incredible natural beauty, authentic villages, and diverse cultures in the most efficient and comfortable way. The service was outstanding, with attention to details 24 hours a day.” –Ana A.

Luxury

The Golden Eagle train was designed for modern railroading pleasure, with an old-fashioned concern for comfort and attention to detail.

The Dining Car
For lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes, all prepared with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Meals are complemented by an extensive list of wines from around the world. In the morning, freshly squeezed orange juice, just-baked bread, and traditional specialties are available at the buffet (unless you prefer a breakfast basket delivered to your cabin).

The Bar Lounge
The elegant bar car is the social heart of the train. Come here to watch the world peacefully go by and to mingle with your fellow travelers over afternoon tea or evening sundowners. This area also sets the stage for thoughtful briefings, talks and lectures, trip updates, language classes, and live music—there’s a resident pianist.

Cabins
Cabins range from 60 to 120 square feet, depending on the room category. All include:

  • comfortable beds
  • remote-controlled heating and air-conditioning
  • DVD/CD player with LCD screen
  • personal safe
  • en-suite bathroom with toilet, sink, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, and L’Occitane toiletries
  • complimentary tea, coffee, and mineral water

Suites
Imperial Suites feature a sitting area with two large picture windows, a marvelously large double bed, a separate shower space, and under-floor heating. They come with additional services, including private car and guide for off-train excursions, complimentary minibar, drinks in the bar lounge from standard and premium lists, and laundry.

A Day in the Life of a GeoEx GOLDEN EAGLE LUXURY TRAIN TOUR

Much of the time, your train travels at night, arriving “in port” in the morning. After breakfast on board, you hop on a bus to explore the day’s destination with your guide. Explorations may include home visits, hiking, cooking classes, walking tours, concerts, and caviar dinners. If you have opted to stay in the Imperial Suite, you’ll make your excursions by private car with your own dedicated guide.

Some days, your train travels all day to cover great distances. This gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the Golden Eagle’s engaging activities, from language lessons to informative lectures. Of course, reading a good book, talking with your travel companions, or simply watching the ever-shifting landscapes from your comfortable cabin is also a good option.

When your journey wraps up, you’re whisked to the airport for your flights home or onward. GeoEx has a host of inspiring ideas for adding customized adventures to the end (or beginning) of your rail journey. Our practiced planners know how to make the most of your adventures—after all, you have come this far.

GeoEx Experts: Equipped to Guide You on Trains & Beyond

“Traveling by train,” says Linda De La Torre, GeoEx’s well-traveled and informed rail aficionado, “is the only way to truly appreciate the enormous distances covered and their astoundingly diverse landscapes, with maximum exposure to local peoples, their arts and crafts, ancient history, culture, and architecture—all without wasting time checking in and out of hotels or languishing in immigration lines at obscure airports with iffy connections.”

She and the GeoEx team know our destinations inside out—just one way we outshine our competitors— and will be there to offer ideas and answer questions from your first call to your return home. We’ll happily provide further insight into the experience aboard the Golden Eagle, as well as the GeoEx extras that create a seamless, intensely memorable adventure.
