||Cultural Tour, Day Hiking
Leave the history books behind when you travel to Peru to see firsthand amazing structures from the Incan empire. This seven-day journey brings the past to life, revealing the cultural wealth from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
After flying from Lima to the Incan capital of Cusco, take a couple days to explore the fabled Urubamba Valley ruins of Pisac, Moray, and Ollantaytambo. Gazing up at the surrounding Andean giants, you’ll visit Incan fortresses, expertly engineered terraces, and friendly indigenous villages. Then travel by train to Machu Picchu, the crown jewel of Incan civilization, potentially hopping off the rails early to hike the last jungly stretch on the Inca Trail. You have a fully day at this mind-blowing, sky-reaching site, getting an inside look at its history and mystery from your private guide. Returning to Cusco, discover other impressive ruins and stroll through the city’s charmingly narrow streets, many of which are walled with the Incas’ exquisite, inexplicably exact rockwork. You’ll return to Lima for an afternoon of sightseeing, taking in the capital’s outstanding archaeological museum, which tells the stories of the many civilizations that preceded the Incas and the tale of their sudden, heartrending demise.
