It's a momentous time to visit Cuba, that long off-limits Caribbean country that conjures up visions of beauty, music, and intrigue. And though more companies are able to take travelers there today, few have the depth of experience of GeoEx—we've been navigating Cuba's travel landscape since 2000.

With the rapid changes now underway, our regular scouting visits, reliable in-country relationships, and experienced trip leaders mean more than ever. Together, we continue to track down the newest restaurants, galleries, lodgings, music venues, and cultural experiences, opening hard-to-find doors for GeoEx travelers.

This in-depth journey connects you to the authentic heart of this vibrant, evolving country, both in Havana and in the multiethnic Viñales Valley, a World Heritage Site. Along the way we dialogue with highly respected architects, historians, academics, and curators, learning about Cuban-American relations. We gain insight into Cuban art and politics while talking with artists, entrepreneurs, and students. We explore dramatic limestone outcroppings and tobacco farms, bed down in the best accommodations available; and enjoy traditional Cuban dishes at paladares in the homes of welcoming locals.

Please note: This trip is eight days long through January 2017, then six days afterwards (see dates). On the eight-day itinerary (limited to 12 travelers), you'll get to visit Cuba sooner, overnight in the Viñales Valley, and enjoy additional activities and lectures in Havana. The six-day itinerary (limited to 10 travelers) does most of the same activities, but only spends a day in the Viñales Valley and is based from new boutique hotel in a Havana neighborhood. Request trip details to see both versions.

"Each guide, scholar, diplomat, reporter, performing artist, farmer, and agronomist was knowledgeable, able to impart information and answer questions, and give us both a feel for and knowledge about Cuba. I think I deserve a PhD. I haven't stopped talking about the trip, and all I learned and saw and experienced." – Judith S. (hear more from Cuba travelers)
