It's not often travelers get to experience a place alongside one of the world's leading experts on its culture. We're thrilled to have renowned Buddhist scholar Dr. Robert Thurman guide our special 12-day tour through Myanmar, helping us uncover and understand the deep relationship between this stunning country and its primary religion. As we discover Myanmar's temples, pagodas, floating gardens, and captivating ruins, and immerse ourselves in its cities, we gain invaluable insight into a mysterious land and its gracious people—and, quite possibly, ourselves.
After thoroughly exploring Yangon (Myanmar's largest city), we travel to see Mandalay, the country’s cultural hub and visit Sagaing Hill and its many monasteries. In Bagan we marvel at countless temples and take a sunset cruise on the Irrawaddy River. We'll even experience a noviation ceremony at Inle Lake. And each day we take time for meditation and teachings with Dr. Thurman.
