Private Air Safaris in Africa

Private Air Safaris in Africa

We’ve joined forces with our flying partners in Africa to design several wide-ranging air safaris intended to showcase some of the continent’s most compelling landscapes.  These inspired, beautifully choreographed private African air safaris offer the perfect opportunity to acquaint (or re-acquaint) small groups of friends and family with a magnificent variety of African landscapes, game viewing, and uncrowded safari life, all — thanks to our private planes and expert pilot-guides — in a relatively short time.

Our Private Air Safaris

Namibia by Air: Ochre, Sand, & Sky

Namibia by Air: Ochre, Sand, & Sky

9 days • Average daily flying time: 1½ hours • From $9,825 per person

Namibia impresses even old Africa hands with its stark, one-of-a-kind grandeur and its unique wildlife. After arriving in the capital, Windhoek, we immediately transfer to our private aircraft and fly north for an hour and a half, catching sight of Etosha National Park’s gleaming white salt pans and landing at The Mushara Outpost’s private airstrip. For the next two days we’ll go on private 4-wheel-drive game-viewing safaris... learn more

Namibia to Mozambique: Sea to Sea Across Southern Africa

Namibia to Mozambique: Sea to Sea Across Southern Africa

14 days • Average daily flying time: 2 hours • From $21,250 per person

Most travelers revel in contrasts. And on this private air and land extravaganza, possible only by light aircraft, we cross the continent in a leisurely but quite manageable two weeks, delving into dramatic contrasts at seemingly every turn: from the imagination-sparking austerity of the Namib Desert and the Atlantic’s bravura Skeleton Coast, to the huge green inland island of the Okavango Delta and the classic, acacia-dotted bush landscapes of Zambia, to the sparkling turquoise of the Indian Ocean’s coral islands. learn more

A Winged Odyssey Through Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia

Tapestry of East Africa:
A Winged Odyssey Through Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia

10 days • Average daily flight time: 1½ hours • From $19,200 per person

The English writer William Hazlitt long ago reminded us that “in traveling, we visit names as well as places.” And on this last of our three private air safaris, we’re presented with a banquet of resoundingly evocative African names: the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Kilimanjaro, Lake Victoria, the Impenetrable Forest, Lalibela (all of which, as it turns out, are marvelous places, as well as evocative names). learn more

Across Southern Africa by Private Air

Across Southern Africa by Private Air

13 days • Average daily flight time: 2 hours • From $15,685

After arriving in Johannesburg, we’re whisked away on our private plane to Mashatu, in the remote eastern corner of Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers. This extraordinarily beauteous place is ripe for exploration in four-wheel-drive vehicles, on bikes, on horseback, or on foot, guided by canny trackers. Then we head north to Victoria Falls... learn more

Visiting the Primates of Tanzania and Rwanda by Private Air

Visiting the Primates of Tanzania and Rwanda by Private Air

13 days • Average daily flight time: 2 hours • From $21,250

A gloriously rare chance to hobnob with two of our closest primate relatives in their homelands, visiting Tanzania and Rwanda’s primates is possible — especially in a just-over-two-week time frame — because of our use of private aircraft, which zips us about in ease, comfort, and great safari-from- the-air beauty, with much control over our schedule. learn more

The GeoEx Safari Experience: Pilot-Guides & Aircraft

The GeoEx Safari Experience: Pilot-Guides & Aircraft

Our pilot-guides, who accompany our Private Air safaris from start to finish, are deeply knowledgeable and passionate about sharing their love of Africa, intent on providing the finest experience possible. And our partners, as owners of their aircraft, are intensely committed to the highest standards of comfort and safety.

For groups of nine or fewer passengers, our Cessna Grand Caravan C208’s high wing, big windows (every passenger has a window seat, and two windows are fully openable), low speed, low-level flying capability, and its nearly all-terrain landing ability make it an ideal craft for flying safaris. For groups of up to four passengers, we use a smaller and similarly equipped Cessna 210.
