Peru luxury travel
Lake Titicaca floating islands
Almost all first-time visitors to Peru head straight to the Incan Heartland - Cusco, The Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. While we're big fans of those places (see Machu Picchu & the Urubamba trip), the truth is that Peru is brimming with other great gems. Which is why we're ecstatic to be so often asked, “What else should we do in Peru?” Our Peru guru Clark Kotula, with nearly a decade of experience exploring the nooks and crannies of the country and guiding travelers there, crafted up this splendid a la carte menu of short add-on excursions.

Arequipa and the Colca Canyon covers a stunning combination of vibrant colonial history and architecture, active volcanoes, one of deepest canyons on earth, rare wildlife, and living indigenous cultures. Lake Titicaca is the highest commercially navigable lake in the world and a veritable anthropological melting pot of Andean civilizations. The Amazon Rainforest and its infinite biological splendor are more accessible from the Andean highlands than one might imagine (a 30-minute flight from Cusco to the Tambopata rainforest reserve). And the Southern Coast encompasses a wine producing region, the largest sand dunes outside of the Sahara, and the mysterious, ancient Nazca Lines (which pre-date the Incans by 2000 years).
