Our meticulously crafted Essence of a Continent offers a romantic introduction to Kenya, taking you off the beaten path to some of the most vast wildlife reserves and intimate safari camps in the country. Not only does it reveal incredible animals, it showcases the fantastic variety of culture and landscape that exists within Kenya’s 224,000 square miles. We begin our adventure in the country’s southwest corner at Campi ya Kanzi (Kiswahili for “camp of the hidden treasure”), a Maasai ranch that spans a quarter of a million acres from the Chyulu Hills to the foothills of Kilimanjaro. After being treated to superb game viewing here, we continue our unparalleled safari experience in the Masai Mara, one of the world’s most thrilling game parks. We four-wheel-drive through the bush, spotting exotic critters with the help of expert trackers, then sleep in tents nestled on the banks of the Mara River, our dreams punctuated by sounds of the wild. Next we venture to Lemarti’s Camp on the Laikipia Plateau, where we go on bush walks and commune with the Maasai and Samburu. Our final stop is in the Northern Frontier District, home to the planet’s largest population of endangered Grevy’a zebra. At Borana and Lewa Conservanies, we watch wildlife by foot and vehicle, and while sipping sundowners on the deck. Throughout the trip, our exclusive camps and lodges—each of which hosts no more than 14 guests at a time—offer up tremendous local knowledge and wildlife expertise, along with great personal attention and fine cuisine.
