Spend a week exploring the wonders of the Kansai region, a destination synonymous with Japanese tradition and culture. This inclusive and exploratory journey will take you through the remote and rugged coastal scenery of the Kii Peninsula to sample its natural hot springs, wander its ancient pilgrimage route, overnight among monks at Mount Koya-san, a mountaintop temple complex, and soak in the traditions of this unique and spectacularly scenic area.

Day 1: arrive in Osaka, transfer to Wakayama •
Day 2: Wakayama Castle, Museum of Modern Art, drive to Shirahama’s famed hot springs, visit Sandan-beki Cliffs and beach, soak in hot bath •
Day 3: to Katsuura via Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine •
Day 4: walk Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine •
Day 5: to Koyasan, sacred mountaintop village of temples, overnight in temple lodge •
Day 6: Koyasan, return to Osaka •
Day 7: depart Osaka.
