Indonesia

Spanning much of the world’s largest archipelago, Indonesia offers an unimaginably rich variety of landscapes, wildlife, and cultures. Our old friend Patti Seery, our Indonesian impresaria has spent the past couple of decades building friendships with local villagers, craftspeople, and kings throughout the country.

Patti enthusiastically designs focused itineraries—including charters of her boat, the magnificent Si’Lolona—for groups with special interests, small groups of friends, or individual families. “The possibilities are endless,” she says. “But could include adventuresome sailing and canoe journeys to meet the emerging Stone Age tribes of Irian Jaya, a stay at a deluxe private residence set amid the rice fields and vibrant culture of Toradja, or an active sailing, hiking, and cultural focus on the remote islands east of Bali.” All sailing trips will be aboard the Si’Lolana, an exciting collaboration between Western technology and the traditional Bugis schooner. This marvelous boat is redolent of the romance of old spice trade sailing days, but offers all the comforts of the 21st century.
