Galápagos Islands Travel

Just about every traveler yearns to visit the charismatic and wondrously vital Galápagos Islands. For good reason. This otherworldly archipelago is home to a stunning variety of species, many found nowhere else on earth and most of whom are astoundingly fearless, allowing us to visit in delightfully peaceful proximity.

Yacht-Based Exploration
Years of experience with Galápagos travel have made us unequivocal fans of cruising the archipelago by comfortable, well-equipped yacht under the guidance of top-flight, dedicated guide-naturalists. Of course, choosing the right boat for you is one of the most important decisions you'll make while selecting your Galápagos tour.

For most travelers we highly recommend the 48-passenger La Pinta. This yacht presents a host of special features and a level of style previously unavailable in the Galápagos. With spacious cabins and common areas, the ship is large enough to offer multiple activities at every landing yet small enough to provide an intimate experience—shore excursions are limited to 12 people. It’s also great for families, and we’ve packed our Galápagos Family Adventure with kid-friendly activities and timed the departures with summer vacations.

If you are traveling with a group of friends or family, you may also want to consider a Private Galápagos Charter aboard a smaller, but still quite spacious and elegant, boat.

Whether cruising with us aboard La Pinta or a private charter, you'll find yourself wending your way leisurely from island to island with generous stops for snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and dining afloat, hiking on sere volcanic landscapes, and connecting in privacy and calm with the mysteries that Darwin uncovered, changing the world in the process.

Island-Based Safari
We concede that not everyone wants to sleep aboard a boat, so we’re thrilled that our friends Michael and Stephanie Mesdag created their marvelous Galápagos Safari Camp, tucked in the cloud-forested highlights of Santa Cruz Island. (There are other island accommodations, but none has been up to our persnickety standards until now.) During our Private Galápagos Safari, we explore Santa Cruz and its neighboring isles by day, communing with remarkable—and remarkably friendly—wildlife, and swimming, snorkeling, beach lolling, kayaking, even mountain biking. And by night we feast on inspired cuisine under the stars and bed down in deluxe, African-style safari tents.

For the December holidays, we’re pleased to offer two special Galápagos Safari Group Departures, which add to the Galápagos fun a guided tour of splendid Quito.

Responsible Travel in the Galápagos
We honor the islands both by presenting them in the best light, under the best conditions, and by "walking the talk" when it comes to responsible travel in the Galápagos .
