Selecting the Right Galapagos Boat
We know most travelers will only visit the Galapagos Islands once, and they want to see them in the best way possible. There are over 80 vessels sailing the waters, and we are confident that yachts, such as La Pinta, are the superior choice for our travelers. We invite you to contact us to answer the questions below so we can make your Galapagos travel a memorable adventure.
- Do you want to charter a boat or book onto a scheduled cruise?
- Are you looking for a motor yacht or a ship with a sail/motor mix?
- How speedy a boat are you looking for? (Smaller boats are generally slower, making for fewer island visits.)
- How many passengers does the boat accommodate? (Size, among many other things, affects the shore landing experience. Galapagos-certified vessels range from 12-passenger sloops to 100- plus-passenger vessels. If you're inclined toward motion sickness, this is a major query . . . or maybe you don't want to take the chance on the wildcard group dynamics of a smaller vessel.)
- What are the onboard meals like (a la carte? buffet? Family style?)?
- What kind of creature comforts does the boat provide?
And more:
- Is the vessel family-oriented?
- Does it offer the option of adjoining cabins (so parents and kids don't have to split up on the voyage)?
- Does the vessel have dedicated family departures with environmental educators?
- Do you want to be on a dedicated family departure? (Some families report that they prefer non-family departures because on dedicated family departures the amount of family bonding time can actually diminish.)
- Does the vessel allow for active options like diving, deep-water snorkeling, and kayaking?
- Are wet suits and snorkeling gear provided?
- What exactly is the itinerary? (All Galapagos boats are locked into a year-round set itinerary, depending on their individual permits.)
