Geographic Expeditions is committed to preserving the delicate Galapagos ecosystem. La Pinta was designed from the hull-up to incorporate the highest environmental design standards and minimum impact practices. Some examples of La Pinta’s responsible travel practices, large and small:

La Pinta meets or exceeds all international certifications, including ISO 9000 and 14000
State-of-the-art engines that emit the lowest levels of CO2 and noise
Four stroke outboard engines for the pangas (zodiacs)
On-board desalinization plant that enables the vessel to avoid transporting freshwater from another land-based source
On-board waste treatment facilities and recycling of inorganic and organic waste
Special deck lighting to decrease inter-island insect dispersal
Food and beverage selection with an eye toward organic and sustainable practices
Expert naturalist guides, with extensive training on minimum impact practices on land and at sea
