The preservation of the Enchanted Isles allows us to see them in virtually the same state that Darwin did more than a century and a half ago. The beautiful islands and their cast of penguins, blue-footed boobies, tortoises, iguanas, and the famous finches and their myriad fellow avians may be encountered in many ways, but we and our private travelers sing the praises of small-vessel exploration. We’ve learned that the best, most comfortable, and less hectic way to dive into the wonders of the Galápagos is by small craft, under the guidance of top-flight, dedicated guide-naturalists. Wending our way leisurely from island to island, with generous stops for snorkeling, swimming, and dining aboard ship, hiking on sere volcanic landscapes, we connect, in privacy and calm, with the mysteries that Darwin uncovered and solved, changing the world in the process. And we know that the Galápagos' history is pivotal to our understanding of the earthly life's persisitent drive toward change and its tenacious richness. That a trip to the islands is a great moment in any traveler's life. We honor the islands by presenting them in the best light, under the best conditions.
Questions about the Galapagos
The Bewitched Islands are still bastions of serenity, but would-be visitors should know that at any given time as many as 80 vessels are plying their waters. And it's safe to say that not all or even most of those boast fit your needs. The glorious Galápagos are a prime case of caveat viator, let the traveler beware. Questions to ponder (and to discuss with us; more on that in a moment): Are you looking for a motor yacht or one with a sail/motor mix? How big a vessel? (If you're inclined toward seasickness, this is a major query.) How speedy a boat are you looking for? (Speed makes a surprising difference; smaller boats are generally slower, making for fewer island visits.) How many passengers does the boat accomodate? (Which, among many other things, affects the shore landing experience.) What kind of creature comforts does the boat provide? (Again, there is a wide variety in cabin configurations, extras like spas, etc.) And more: Is the vessel family-oriented? Does it allow for active options like scuba diving and kayaking? Are wet suits provided? What exactly is the itinerary? (All Galápagos boats are locked into a set itinerary year-round, depending on their individual permits; this is also an especially crucial question for birders.) Since we love the Galápagos, and do a lot of business there, we invite you to mull over these (and many other) questions with us before you head south. And when you call us, keep in mind that our boats are available for private charter throughout the year, and we have some of the premiere options already reserved and ready for you.
