GeoEx ensures that your accommodations in Bhutan are comfortable and offer the best services available. Bhutan is a developing country where tourism is relatively new. The vast majority of hotel options are quite basic, lacking reliable electricity, hot water, heat, and providing a sub-par level of service. To ensure our guests have the best possible experience, we personally visit and vet all our accommodations, seeking the unique gems among the rough mix of Bhutanese hotels and arranging for only the most well-appointed tented camps and rustic inns when visiting the most remote areas.

You can trust we will always select the most comfortable options to match your needs – be it luxury hotels of the highest standard, more modest but charming inns, high mountain camps, or a mix of all three.

Here are a few of the places we stay:

A handmade showcase of Bhutanese architectural arts, Zhiwa Ling offers authentic Bhutanese hospitality with 21st century comfort and convenience. Nestled on a pine-covered hillside in the Paro Valley, Zhiwa Ling is a truly Bhutanese hotel - designed, owned, and operated by local people. Its traditional structures have hand-carved and intricately painted interiors, the grounds are expansive, and the guest rooms are sunny and large. You'll also find a spa, yoga room, tea house, and modern fitness center on site. Most of our Bhutan tours begin with a stay at Zhiwa Ling, one of our favorite hotels in Bhutan. Hotels of this caliber that are truly Bhutanese can be difficult to find.

Cozy, comfortable, and rustic, friendly Dewachen sits nestled on a peaceful hillside with sweeping views and is always a traveler favorite. Perhaps the most typical Bhutanese hotel we use, Dewachen is in western Bhutan's isolated Phobjikha Valley. Each room has a wood-burning stove (traditional bukhari) to supply heat as the Phobjikha Valley has only limited electricity. The hotel itself overlooks the pine forested valley and affords distant views of endangered black-necked cranes. We unflinchingly recommend Dewachen for the access it provides to the stunning valley below. It's also just a short trip to Gangtey Gompa, a temple that has recently been restored to showcase the work of Bhutan's finest living artisans.
