Dochu-LA pass Bhutan

This Private Departure to two of South Asia’s smallest, friendliest, and most comely countries begins with five marvelous days wandering in Bhutan, a country we have very enjoyably spent the previous six pages describing and lionizing. Our Highlights takes us to the valleys of Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro—each with its own impressive dzong and tranquil river surrounded by terraced fields—and culminates with a visit to the mystical Taktsang, or Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the most sacred places in the kingdom, and one of the most picturesque (first and last use of that word in our catalog) edifices in the world.

Then a short flight to Bangkok and on to Laos. Starting at the charming capital of Vientiane, we’ll visit exquisite Buddhist temples, take a river cruise on the Mekong to see the cliff caves of Pak-Ou, and fly to the enchanting former capital of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
