Taking advantage of the long days at the height of the austral summer, we weave in and out of such famous ice and sea-mountain passages and islands as Paradise Bay, Anvers Island, King George Island, Port Lockroy, Le Maire Channel and Deception Island. We’ll spend as much time as possible on the Peninsula and the spectacular South Shetlands, Zodiacing ashore to hike, study, and photograph the teeming wildlife. Our longer voyages, a polar fan’s ultimate plum, also include visits to the Falkland Islands and breathtaking South Georgia, populated by vast congeries of penguins and seals.
Exploring Antarctica on our Adventure Ships (Akademik Shokalskiy, Akademik Sergey Vavilov, Akademik Ioffe, and Ocean Nova) is the perfect travel experience for the active traveler. Nimble and ice-strengthened, these ships provide exclusive access to the Antarctic Peninsula’s nooks and crannies. Traveling with a tightly-knit group, you can see more and do more. Optional adventures: cross-country skiing, camping, mountaineering, kayaking, and kayak-camping are available on selected departures, details are available on the dates and rates sheet.
Traveling to the farthest reaches of the world doesn’t mean you can’t be comfortable. Our Expedition Ships (Lyubov Orlova and Clipper Adventurer) offer adventure combined with the service and many of the amenities of a classic passenger vessel. The outstanding cuisine may vie with the landscape and wildlife for your attention. You’re traveling in the wake of history’s greatest explorers, with steak in place of pemmican. These expeditions provide quality and value.
