Adam Vaught: Director for the Americas

Adam Vaught, Director on our Americas team, joined GeoEx upon completing six months of master’s thesis research in Ecuador. His research on banking systems in the developing world took him across all four regions of the surprisingly diverse country. “From the coast to the Andes and the Amazon to the Galápagos, there is no country in the world that provides so much diversity relative to its size. And while it’s the Galápagos that attracts most visitors—and never fails to impress—it's the Andes region in the center of the country that is the most surprising in terms of natural beauty and cultural diversity. Whenever I return to Ecuador, that is my first stop.”

After growing up in Southern California and finishing his undergraduate work at UCLA, Adam has lived in Japan, Cambodia, Argentina, and Ecuador. He’s earned a master’s degree in international development from Georgetown University and worked on consulting projects in India, Patagonia, Myanmar (Burma), Morocco, and Peru. Now based in the Bay Area, Adam spends his downtime exploring the Marin Headlands, baking cookies with his grandmother, orchestrating trips to Cuba (he was recently named Condé Nast Traveler's Top Travel Specialist for this compelling nation), and researching his next trek in the Andes Mountains.
