Isabel Allende is an internationally celebrated author and the founder of The Isabel Allende Foundation. Allende won worldwide acclaim with her 1982 novel, The House of Spirits, and has received dozens of international tributes and awards, including Chile's 2010 National Prize for Literature. She describes her fiction as "realistic literature," rooted in her remarkable upbringing, her feminist convictions, and the harsh political realities that shaped her destiny. Her books, all written in Spanish, have been translated into more than 35 languages and have sold more than 60 million copies globally.
